Recently, the shipbuilding company, a subsidiary of SUMEC Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “SUMEC”), has signed a new contract with a shipowner company from Hong Kong, China, for the construction of four new CROWN82 2.0 bulk carriers.

The newly contracted CROWN82 2.0 bulk carriers feature an optimized hull design and significant improvements in parameters such as speed, fuel consumption, and carrying capacity. The design efficiency meets the EEDI PHASE 3 standards. Besides, with an increased cargo hold capacity of nearly 100,000 cubic meters, the operational efficiency of the ships has been significantly enhanced. Therefore, they are more seaworthy and compatible for transporting a wide range of cargoes, particularly grains, which is a common application for this ship type.

In addition, the shipbuilding company actively optimizes the configurations of the CROWN82 2.0 version, providing shipowners with diverse options such as low-friction paint, desulfurization towers, high-voltage shore power systems, and intelligent ship systems.
