Recently, SUMEC-ITC, affiliated to SUMEC Group Corporation (“SUMEC”), signed a new import contract for 17,500t agricultural products from Kazakhstan, including 14,800t barley and 2,700t wheat flour. At present, these agricultural products are being delivered in succession from Kazakhstan through China Railway Express via Horgos Port to Shandong, Shanxi, Henan and other places.
It was in Kazakhstan that “the Belt and Road Initiative” (BRI) was first announced. In September this year, during the inspection visit of Jiangsu delegation led by Governor Xu Kunlin to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, SUMEC-ITC signed a letter of intent for cooperation on agricultural products under BRI with Kazakhstani customers. The import of barley and wheat flour is the result of active implementation of BRI by both parties.
SUMEC-ITC has been actively participating in the co-construction of BRI, making great efforts to promote market expansion and business layout in countries and regions along BRI, continuously improving the ability to obtain overseas first-hand commodity resources, and continuously increasing the import of bulk commodities such as agricultural products, timber, and finished paper.
