“Talk about Equipment” Textile Industry Steps Into A New Era of Environmental Protection

In today’s society, energy conservation and environmental protection have become important topics that all industries face. For the textile industry, energy conservation and environmental protection are not only the inevitable requirement, but also the social responsibility for the sustainable development of the industry. With the rising cost of energy and the increasingly strict environmental protection laws and regulations, more and more textile enterprises rely on advanced energy-saving technologies and equipment to improve energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions and environmental pollution, enhance the competitiveness of enterprises, and achieve a win-win result of economic and social benefits.
KMA Umwelttechnik GmbH (hereinafter referred to as “KMA”), a German brand cooperating with SUMEC-ITC, is an “expert brand” in the field of waste gas purification and heat recovery. Its top-selling product KMA ULTRAVENT® is applicable to various fabric finishing processes and can bring sustainable and measurable value to enterprises.

One System, Two Goals

Goal 1: Clean the air

The exhaust gas of the setting machine contains a lot of dust and oily particles. KMA system has the proven capability to separate tons of oil from the exhaust gas of the setting machine every year, thus reducing environmental pollution.

Goal 2: Save energy

ULTRAVENT® tower series filters can recover valuable heat energy and return it to the production process, significantly reducing the overall energy consumption. The reduction of carbon dioxide emissions can not only protect the climate, but also reduce the energy cost of customers.

One Device, Two Components

Component 1: Heat Recovery System

KMA ULTRAVENT ® tower series filters can be equipped with an air-to-air heat exchanger, air-to-water heat exchanger, or a combination of both. Customers can choose the specific configuration according to the evaluation of available heat energy in the exhaust gas and the utilization preference of waste heat. The overall energy consumption of the setting machine is reduced, and the energy demand for expensive traditional heating methods (such as natural gas or hot oil heating) is less, so this combination of gas supply and water heating is “far ahead” in the market.

Air-to-air – recirculate the heated ambient air into the setting machine

Instant energy saving of setting machine

Decreased carbon dioxide emissions from production lines

Decisive impact on the carbon footprint of end products

Air-to-water – generate hot water (or solar water) for other processes

Preheated water for dyeing or laundry process

Workshop/warehouse heating

Contributive to the overall energy efficiency and support for hot water infrastructure

Air-to-air and air-to-water – combination mode

For the setting machine

Preheated water for other processes

Flexible setting of priority and target temperature level

Component 2: Electrostatic Filter Unit

Electrostatic filter unit is used for efficient separation of flue gas, dust, and oily and sticky mushy particles. The ionization electrode produces a strong electric field at very low energy consumption, and the particles move under the action of electrostatic force and stick to the collecting plate. The airflow redirects at the center and passes vertically through the two components, and passes through the heat exchanger from the top to the bottom. The airflow and gravity help to discharge condensate and pollutants. The airflow in the electrostatic precipitator turns from the bottom to the top, so it can effectively prevent the influence of substances dripping from the heat exchanger.

1. Ionization plate

The high voltage on the ionization plate profile will generate an electric field, and the particles passing through the electric field will be charged.

2. Collecting plate (separation)

The grounded separation fin attracts the passing particles and blocks them with minimum air resistance.

Automatic Cleaning System, High Efficiency & Low Maintenance Requirements

Cleaning the heat exchanger and electrostatic filter unit is a tedious and time-consuming task. The automatic cleaning function of KMA ULTRAVENT® tower filter can significantly reduce the workload of maintenance personnel, while protecting the equipment from wear and tear and minimizing the cleaning workload.

Main cleaning

In the main cleaning process, the filter unit and heat exchanger are cleaned in place (CIP) automatically with water under the combined action of the thermal, chemical and mechanical forces.

Online cleaning
When the filter is running, water is sprayed on the heat exchanger only once every 30 minutes, and the sediment is continuously washed away before crusting, ensuring that the surface of the heat exchanger is clean and the heat transfer is most effective.

Short-term cleaning

In the service interval of setting machine (e.g. batch replacement, cleaning of fluff prefilter, etc.), the short-term cleaning can be started to quickly clean the heat exchanger and filter unit.
