John Edwards, the British Trade Commissioner to China, and his team visited SUMEC

Recently, John Edwards, the British Trade Commissioner to China, and his team visited SUMEC Corporation Limited (SUMEC). They were received by the Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of SUMEC, Yang Yongqing, and Assistant General Manager Hu Haijing.

Yang Yongqing warmly welcomed John Edwards and his team, briefly introducing the company’s business development. He said that SUMEC is committed to expanding its business overseas, continually exploring new markets, seizing new opportunities, and expanding new partnerships to enhance the influence of its independent brands and products. The company is dedicated to building a digital-driven international industrial chain and supply chain, creating new and greater value for global customers. He also emphasized that SUMEC highly regards the British market, has established a British subsidiary, and signed a memorandum of understanding with the British Department for Business and Trade. Through the “SUMEC TOUCH WORLD” platform, it provides display opportunities for British equipment manufacturing companies. He expressed hope for further cooperation with British Department for Business and Trade in industry, technology, finance, and other fields, building on the existing good cooperation foundation.
Hu Haijing introduced the company’s investments and trade situation with the UK.

John Edwards expressed his admiration for the achievements that SUMEC has made in its development and thanked the company for its long-term efforts in promoting trade with the UK. He mentioned that 2022 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the UK-China diplomatic relationship at the ambassadorial level, and bilateral trade between the two countries has exceeded $100 billion, maintaining a good development trend. He also pointed out that the “SUMEC TOUCH WORLD” platform has provided a virtual online exhibition hall for British companies, playing a positive role in promoting trade cooperation and receiving high praise from all parties. He hoped to further leverage the role of the British Department for Business and Trade as a bridge and use the “SUMEC TOUCH WORLD” platform to attract more British companies to cooperate with SUMEC and bring more British goods and services to China.

Prior to the meeting, John Edwards and his team visited Eton Kidd, expressing their approval of the school’s practice of using school uniforms as a means to accompany children in their growth and convey excellent educational concepts.

The event was attended by Tang Mingfang, Head of Advanced Manufacturing and Transport Industry for the China region of the Department for Business and Trade; Lu Jian, Regional Affairs Officer (Jiangsu) of the British Consulate General in Shanghai; Zhang Yaohua, Senior Trade and Investment Officer of the Department for Business and Trade, as well as related officials from SUMEC Technology Co., Eton Kidd, and the office.
