On August 10th, a signing ceremony for the EPC contract of the 137MWac Calatrava Photovoltaic Project was held between SUMEC Complete Equipment & Engineering Co., Ltd. (“SUMEC Engineering”), a subsidiary of SUMEC Co., Ltd. (“SUMEC”), and AboitizPower. The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Zhao Weilin, General Manager and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of SUMEC, and Mr. James Arnold, President of AboitizPower.
137MWac Calatrava Photovoltaic Project
This project is the fifth EPC photovoltaic project implemented by SUMEC Engineering in the Philippines as part of its localized operations. It is also a new order following SUMEC Engineering’s signing of the 130MWac Laoag Photovoltaic Project with its long-standing client, AboitizPower. Located in Calatrava, Negros Occidental, Philippines, the project spans across 143 hectares and is expected to generate an annual output of 270 million kilowatt-hours of electricity for the local grid upon completion.
Mr. James Arnold acknowledged the EPC capabilities of SUMEC Engineering in the photovoltaic sector in the Philippines and expressed his earnest expectations for the successful commercial operation of the 137MWac Calatrava Photovoltaic Project.
Mr. Zhao Weilin expressed his gratitude to AboitizPower for their recognition of SUMEC Engineering. He highlighted that SUMEC will remain dedicated to fulfilling their contractual obligations and uphold the business philosophy of “building a project, creating a monument”. They will actively coordinate resources, diligently manage project timelines, quality, and safety, and make every effort to drive the progress of the project. Their goal is to achieve grid connection and power generation as soon as possible, thereby making a meaningful contribution to the development of clean energy in the Philippines.
SUMEC has established a strong presence in the Philippine market after years of efforts, with the cumulative capacity of completed and ongoing local photovoltaic and wind power projects having exceeded 650MW. This strong track record has created favorable conditions for the successful signing of this contract. Looking ahead, SUMEC will continue to closely align with the national “Belt and Road” initiative and adhere to the principles of localized operations, specialized management, and goal-oriented management in overseas project development and construction.
