[Farming and Husbandry] China’s first industry standard for fermented feed ingredients has been released.
Recently, the revised version of China’s first fermented feed ingredients standard, Feed Ingredients Fermented Soybean Meal, led by the Institute of Feed Research of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (IFR CAAS), has been approved to standardize the agricultural industry. The Standard will come into effect on 1 October. China is the largest farming country, and soybean meal is the most important feed protein raw material. Therefore, China has had a high-level demand for soybean for many years, with imports of more than 100 million tons, accounting for over 85% of the total demand. The implementation of the above standards will play an important role in regulating the industry development, ensuring product quality, meeting niche demand, and breaking bottlenecks.
Key Point: Fermented soybean meal was initiated by China. However, its development has been constrained by diversified fermentation strains, crude processes, and unstable quality. The aluminum foil for lithium batteries has been in short supply for several months. 9,500 tons of aluminum foil were shipped at the end of July, while orders for the first week of August had reached 13,000 tons. On the one hand, the production and sales volume of new energy vehicles and the installed capacity of power batteries are proliferating. On the other hand, battery aluminum foil has a certain commercialization cycle and technical threshold, with slow construction and production speed. In addition, the sodium ion battery that will be put into commercial use also brings new demand growth for battery aluminum foil.
Key Point: Wanshun New Material has been actively laying out its battery aluminum foil business and has successfully entered the supply chain system of CATL and other quality customers. Leary Technology acquired Foshan Dawei to enter the field of carbon-coated aluminum foil, the main material for lithium battery fluid collection. This year, it will add 12 carbon-coated aluminum/copper foil production lines.

Key Point: The investment in a single converter station in a DC transmission project is about RMB 5 billion, with equipment purchase costs accounting for 70%. The core equipment such as converter valve, converter, DC control and protection, DC wall casing, and DC submarine cable is highly technical. The equipment and suppliers are still in iterative upgrading.

Recently, a carbon dioxide to methanol project, invested by Geely Group and implemented by a group in Henan Province, is about to start production this month. The project makes comprehensive use of hydrogen-rich and methane-rich coke oven gas and CO₂ captured from industrial waste gas to synthesize methanol and LNG, with a planned total investment of RMB 700 million. The project will adopt the proprietary ETL green methanol synthesis process from Icelandic CRI (Icelandic Carbon Recycling International), the new domestic technology of purification and freezing of coke oven gas to separate LNG and CO₂ capture techniques.
Key Point: Geely Group started its research on methanol fuel and vehicles in 2005. The strategic investment project is the first green methanol project in the world and the first in China.

As one of the most undervalued segments of the wind power industry, polyether amine (PEA) is a class of polyolefin compounds with a soft polyether skeleton, capped by primary or secondary amine groups. It is used to produce composite materials with high strength and toughness. The downstream of PEA is mainly wind power blades. According to GWEA, the global new wind power installation is expected to rise from 100.6GW to 128.8GW from 2022 to 2026, of which 50.91% will be installed in China. As the number of new wind power installations continues to increase, a new round of PEA supply and demand conflicts will emerge.

Key Point: Six domestic PEA manufacturers are actively planning to expand production. It is reported that the existing production capacity of Superior New Material is 35,000 tons/year and is expected to add a capacity of 90,000 tons/year from 2022 to 2023.
