Another New Channel for International Logistics Transport!

On July 19, the first China-Europe Railway Express (Qilu) “Lu-Europe Express” of the Hungary-Serbia Shanghai Cooperation Organization Demonstration Area was officially launched, which is the 17th international logistics transport express launched in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Demonstration Area since its establishment.

On July 19, a train loaded with steel pipes, household goods, machinery and equipment, and other goods was sent out from the multimodal transportation center of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Demonstration Area, marking the official opening of first China-Europe Railway Express (Qilu) “Lu-Europe Express” of the Hungary-Serbia SCO Demonstration Area. It further improves the layout of the international logistics transport express from the SCO Demonstration Area to Central and Eastern Europe. This goods train has a total of 100 TEUs, worth more than RMB 20 million. It will be exported from Alataw Port and travel through Poland and the Czech Republic, taking about 20 days to reach the “Pearl of the Danube” Budapest, the capital of Hungary. Then the goods will be transported by water to Belgrade, the capital of Serbia.

Hungary and Serbia are important trading partners of China in Eastern Europe. In recent years, bilateral trade between China, Hungary, and Serbia has proliferated. The opening of the express is a concrete measure in response to the high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and the “17+1″ cooperation mechanism of Central and Eastern European countries by China, Hungary, and Serbia. It is reported that since the Cross-border E-commerce Supervision Center of the SCO Demonstration Area opened in June 2021, cross-border e-commerce enterprises in the SCO Demonstration Area can realize convenient customs clearance “in the doorway”. Up to now, the SCO Demonstration Area has normally launched 26 domestic international logistics transport train lines. Along with 22 countries and 51 cities along the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Belt and Road Initiative, an international logistics corridor covering the whole province is gradually formed, crossing Europe and Asia while connecting Japan, South Korea, and ASEAN.

In the first half of this year, the China-Europe Railway Express (Qilu) continued its robust development, with 430 trains shipped, witnessing an increase of 444.8% year-on-year. Among them, 213 return trains were shipped, reaching a record high. It is worth mentioning that the train supply structure continues to shift to high value-added goods. Products of SEPCO, Haier, Hisense, and other provincial enterprises are shipped worldwide by the international logistics transport, China-Europe Railway Express (Qilu). Foreign grain, minerals, and other national featured products are imported to the domestic market. The smooth flow of international freight channels in both directions is effectively ensured .

At present, the SCO Demonstration Area is accelerating the construction of the international logistics transport center to coordinate multimodal transport services and continuously innovate international logistics models.
